ARTS WEEK!, by Mrs Pratten

Today we started the morning with our new dance  from the heart routine. It was a dance about going to the movies ๐ŸŽฅ. Then after that we went  back to class to discover a school visitor called Jac.She did paint ๐ŸŽจ scrapings with us.We then did some pointillism painting.Fact:Georges Seurat invented the pointillism painting technique. We did famous buildings and the Mona Lisa . In the afternoon we did collages about the sea side using ideas from Matisse.

This Week it's ARTS WEEK! We have made lots of stuff and our topic is FRANCE! We have had a famous poet in and have looked at  George Seurat. His style of paintings were little dots and  we had a go and had lots of fun! We also made and designed our scetch books and sketched  in them.

This Week In Year 4, we can't wait for Sports Day! It is coming up later today and we have sorted out our own teams. In D&T, we have started sewing and we have had lots of fun doing it. Yesterday, we practiced our violin and learnt how to use the bow very faintly but we stil learned a lot. We also had a recap on the strings of the violin and learnt that they are GDAE. We have also learnt lots about kenning poems and how they are written. We are also learning about Haiku poems and how they are written (It goes like this 5-7-5 syllables). In Science, we are learning about precipitation (Rain) and clouds. We did an experiment with water shaving foam and food colouring and something exiting happened!

This Week In Year 4, we have had Test Week! We are also having a new whiteboard fitted. It is exiting and we can't wait for it to be fully fitted! In English, we have been learning Haiku poems and their styles (3 lines and 5-7-5 syllables in them). We have made our own Haiku poems and also made one as a group they are Awesome! We have also been learning the chunking method and the bustop method it was really Challenging and Hard but we got it in the end and all had fun. In Test Week we had some really tricky questions but solved them quite easily. In the Math we encountered some crazy and challenging questions but once we got the hang of it, we wized through the questions and we had a great time! We can't wait for the rest of the week and we bet it will be fun! Some people have learnt their tables! Well done on getting your silver stars!

This week we went to Cuerden valley park. It was for our knowledge of rivers and Geography and we definitely had fun! The river that we went to was the River Lostock. We had a tour of the river and went fishing with nets. We measured the river's speed and its height. James got drenched but he still had fun! Also we did a little mini beast hunt,what we had to do was grab a net and stand behind it and move your feet for 30 seconds. 

We also scooped up pebbles And quartz,marble and amber.

Sorry if we didn't get to inform you on Friday, we couldn't get on the IPad we tried all the other options but it didn't work we are happy to inform you now! In year 4,we did a German recap on days of the week and Monday is Montag etc.We practiced our violin and it was definitely fun! We had to get our violins out and stood up and played to the rhythm it was cool! In English, we wrote poems and they were fun and cool! We listened to Michael Rosens Introduction Song and laughed out loud! In Science,  we learned about solids ,liquids and gases.

 

We have had fun and can't wait for the further week!๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿฏ

Hope everybody enjoyed the glorious weather today let's hope it stays for Thursday!

This Week In:

English - Miss Priestley will be inspiring the children with poetry, learning about some different styles of poems

Maths - our learning will involve finding fractions of amounts and formal written ways to divide, yeah chunking!

Science - the children to work with Miss Priestley continuing to investigate solids, liquids and gases

Geography - we will be learning about the water cycle and of course our trip on Thursday to observe the river Lostock firsthand. Please  make sure the children are appropriately dresses for the weather

DT - we will be practising our sewing skills and making patterns for our wallets and purses

We will of course keep our 15 minutes of movement going every day

This going Week has been Amazing! In our math we made math dominos and we all had fun playing and making our dominoes! In D&T (Design and technology) we were looking at our own wallets and purses to design our own wallets or purses. In our geography, we have finished our colages of rivers which look AWSOME! (They were made out of paper). Today in our science lesson, we made some goop ! It was so weird and we will show you some pictures. We are learning about solids,liquids and gases and other particals. The middle of the the week has been great and we can't wait for the rest of the week! We have a trainee teacher in our class called Miss Preistly! (Just to let know she's learning from us!) (Edge Hill university)

Welcome back feels like we have all had a little holiday , hope you all enjoyed the bank holiday.

This Week In Year 4,we have started to play the violin! Anyway, in Geography we have been studying rivers and looking at how they form. We had a demonstration on Wednesday and it was fun! We played a game about matching river defenations and the words together correctly. Today, we brung In wallets and purses to think about our designes for our own wallets and purses we are going to make in the future! We tried to finish our river collages (in Geography) that we started yesterday but we didn't get to finish them!

Year 4 have been working hard on trying to advertise our enterprise to the school! We have had lots of guests in to help us with our cooking! We baked pizza cookies,fruit kebabs,cheese and bacon rolls and wraps. (The selection of wraps are ham,chicken,cheese,cucumber peppers and spicy chicken) The fruit kebabs are rainbow coulerd a.k.a strawberry=red orange=orange pineapple=yellow etc. The pizza cookie cost 50p a slice. The cheese and bacon whirls are £1.00 each. The wraps are £1.00 each and the fruit kebabs cost 50p a stick

A busy week for the tiger tribe!

We are going to be organising our Enterprise, lots of cooking,mixing,chopping, rolling and of course selling!๐Ÿช๐ŸŒฎ๐Ÿฅ’๐Ÿฅ•

English - we continue with our Mousehole Cat story, guided reading activities and spelling  (adding 'sion' to words)Don't forget Spellodrome!

Maths - investigating number sequences,negative numbers and reading scales, weighing, capacity and temperature

Geography - observing how  water flows down a slope through soil,making channels and carrying debris. Watching clips of how rivers are formed and learning new key river vocabulary

PSHE - looking at what makes a good friend,discrimination and responsibilities

Art and Design - looking at different wallets and purses and who they are designed for

PE - coaching with Dillon and gymnastics ๐Ÿคธ‍โ™‚๏ธ

WOPPS- violin ๐ŸŽต๐ŸŽป

 Welcome to a new  term! In Year 4, we have a new topic in Geography, Rivers!  We are now learning about the River Ribble. We have also started running a mile a day. Yesterday, we had some nice slushes mixed with smoothies! Today, we did a fun run on the field. We had a good time and everyone enjoyed it. We did 3-Legged races,Running, Hula hooping, dribbling with a football and wheelbarrows! We had a Realy good time and we can't wait for next week!

Hope you all had a great Easter, had a good rest and are ready for more exciting learning!

This week in English we are starting our new class book 'The Mousehole Cat' . We are looking at the characters and using lots of descriptive language for the setting.

In spelling the focus is on words spelt with  'sc' which make the sound 's' e.g. Scent

Maths this week is looking at at continuous data graphs, collecting our own data and drawing graphs. We are also revising adding 4 digits.

Geography work will be looking at what a river is and locating local rivers and other water features e.g. lakes,canals,seas using ordanance survey maps.

We will start thinking about our DT projects, this week ,which is to designate wallet/ purse. Our first lesson will be looking at a selection of different wallets and purses to see how they fasten, what material they are made from. Bring in your favourite wallet/ purse for us to look at.

It is our turn for the enterprise challenge next week, if you have any ideas for a savoury snack we could make,or would like to come in and help us cook, you are more than welcome, please let me know.

The most exciting news for us us that we can move back into our new and improved classroom, we can't wait!

The Tigers had fun in the sun working on their maps and also painting their peppers. They have really enjoyed researching and planning their  chronological reports which are looking good!

Geography - using google maps to create their own 3D maps of their German towns

Art and design - painting peppers and making Easter cards

RE - looking at famous Christians Martin Luther King and GLadys Aylwood, what did they sacrifice? What would the children find hard to sacrifice, why?

PE - working with Dillon on Agilty, Balance and Co - ordination

Lots of exciting learning  to look forward to, then a well earns rest!

Don't forget to decorate an egg for the competition and Easter Egg bingo on Wednesday

This Week in Year 4 Has been an eventful one! We have had a big play and we enjoyed it! The play was called Pirates Vs. Mermaids. In geography, we learnt about how Germany has lots of rivers,forests and mountains.We are doing research in where our football teams come from. We found out that the Black Forest is right next to Munich!

This Week In Year 4, we had a dentist that came to see us. He lectured us on how to take care of our teeth and he gave us stuff to look at. Also it has been WORLD BOOK DAY!!! We got free books! We also got good £1 gift vouchers for another free book. This Week has been so cool and we can't wait for Monday! ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿฏ

The Tigers thoroughly enjoyed the whole Guild Hall friendship experience. They enjoyed the rehearsals in the afternoon and were more than ready for their tea, some very hungry tigers were roaming around the Guild Hall! Then a change into their lovely costumes and they were ready to perform and they were brilliant! Mrs Bolton, Mrs Regan and Mrs Pratten all commented on what a pleasure it had been taking them .Well done!๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿฏ

The Tigers have had a busy week moving out of their old classroom and into their new "home" for the next few weeks. They have all been brilliant and are starting to get to grips with new routines. We had fun this afternoon spending a last afternoon in our old classroom having our art lesson. We enjoyed the space and for once could be messy!!

This Week In Year 4 James has finally come back from his operation (YES!) we where all glad to see him. Soon we are going to be moving class rooms witch is super exiting for all of us! We have been tasting more toothpaste (which was finally sweet!) but it was still disgusting to taste! We still had fun. Now we are making adverts to advertise (and hopefully sell!) Our toothpaste! We also found out witch toothpaste was the class favourite one. In English we have Been looking at the story Wallace and gromit a matter of loaf and death. Now we are writing up our own stories basted on it.Also in maths we have done the smarty challenge and we got to eat them at the end!
