Takeover Day: Letter To Parents, by Mr Coxhead
Date: 5th Jul 2017 @ 11:38am
Below is a letter from Daniel and Matthew (our Year 6 pupils who have taken on the roles of Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher for the day):
Dear Parents,
Today Year 6 pupils have taken over teaching for the day as a reward they have earned. There are around 4 pupils teaching each class and have been given a timetable for the day.
Reception has been doing some amazing phonics work, music lessons too and all the teachers are doing a good job. Year 1 have enjoyed doing PE involving throwing and catching and for a treat, football. They also did guided reading work with the teachers helping each child. Year 2 have done some great science work finding out about bugs and have looked all over the bog garden to find some. Year 3 have started off today by doing some fantastic singing. They then did science, learning about flowers and purposes of them. Year 4 have been doing some math problem solving involving multiplication work, after that they work on GPS. Year 5 were doing spelling on suffixes and play rehearsal for their big performance night ahead of them.
Yours Sincerely, Mr Holmes (Deputy Head)
Mr Stillings (Head Teacher)

Vitruvian man , by Miss Leigh
Date: 13th Mar 2017 @ 3:03pm
With our topic being inventions and inventors we have started looking at famous inventors. In Science, we have looked at the work of Leonardo da Vinci, and have explored his work on the vitruvian man. We measured our height and then tested his ideas against ourselves. Most of the time we found he was correct, however, occasionally they didn't work. We discussed why this might be and think it is because we are still growing and not an adult yet.

The girls had a great time seeing the sights of London including Downing Street and Buckingham Palace. On our tour of Westminster the girls went into the queens robing room, the House of Lords and the House of Commons. They also took part in a workshop called Ypur Voice. They will be sharing more of their day in an assembly .
Forces in Action, by Miss Leigh
Date: 22nd Feb 2017 @ 12:00pm
We have been exploring friction today.
We were challenged to lift a bottle using only rice, a pencil and friction. We had to figure it out and then explain why it happened.
We also had to use chopsticks to move Jelly from one bowl to another. However, there was a problem! Oil in one bowl made this a challenge. Can you think why?

Count down to Christmas , by Miss Leigh
Date: 1st Dec 2016 @ 3:11pm
It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas or Narnia now that Aslan has arrived.
We have been busy making posters for the winter warmer and have made some amazing decorations for the Christmas trees in the hall.
We have started our countdown to Christmas by taking a few photographs. Here are some of our favourites

The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe , by Miss Leigh
Date: 18th Nov 2016 @ 3:52pm
I'm sure you've all been hearing about the wonderful adventures of Lucy, Edmund, Susan and Peter. We've been reading the story and have begun to explore the mysterious world that is Narnia. What an interesting place it seems to be. Imagine living in a place where it's always winter and never Christmas!
The children have been working very hard looking at historical language and trying to use it. We've written diarys and letters. We've debated if Mr Tumnus can be trusted and if is his really a good Faun! We are glad that Lucy decided to go with him, although we know that going with strangers is not something we should ever do. We have found lots of evidence of the characters trusting each other and when their trust has been tested.
We've just met Mr and Mrs Beaver and have heard about Aslan. What will happen next?
Rota Kids , by Miss Leigh
Date: 27th Oct 2016 @ 4:32pm
A few weeks ago we had a visit from Tom to talk to us about Rota Kids and the charitable work which we can undertake. As a class we decided to become part of Rota Kids and today we held our elections. Many of the class put themselves forwards for election, making a short presentation about the qualities they could bring to the position. After listening carefully to the campaigns we held our very own election will ballot papers. It was a very close race!
