Author Visit - Longton Library, by Mrs Catterall

Date: 15th Dec 2018 @ 8:36pm

We had a really enjoyable morning at at the library. We met Graham Fletcher the author of 'Oleg the Giant'. We talked about what makes us want to read a book and looked around the library for a book we might choose to read and explain to our partners why we chose it.

We explored the idea of a giant and measured some of us to see who was as close to the size of Oleg.

Mr Fletcher then read us his story.  He stopped near the end and left it on a cliff hanger!!!   Luckily Mrs Catterall has a copy and finished the story.  We really enjoyed it and are going to do some work in English about the book after Christmas.

DT - WW1 teddies, by Mrs Catterall

Date: 25th Nov 2018 @ 12:07pm

During WW1 soldiers would have small teddies given or sent to them from family and loved ones.  The teddies would have eyes at the top of their heads so they be able to see out of pockets.

The Penguins have been been having a go at sewing together the felt and stuffing their teddy before adding its features.  I think they have done an amazing job. Lots of determination, perseverance and helping out each other.  Well done Penguins.
