Learning a Modern Foreign Language prepares children to participtae in a rapidly changing world in which work and many other activities are often carried out in languages other than English.
Increased capability in the use of a foreign language promotes confidence, initiative, independent learning and encourages diversity within society. Young children are usually keen to take part in oral exchanges making the learning of a new language a means of developing oral skills as well of enjoyment.
Here at Longton, to meet the statutory requirements of the National Curriculum we teach a foreign language to Children from Year 1 to Year 6.
