2013 whole school focus - New Curriculum - Middle Leaders
With the imminence of the New Curriculum we must ensure that we revisit our curriculum provision in every subject area. By doing this we will be providing the most relevant and up-to-date curriculum using the Longton approach, knowing that the New Curriculum can work for us and not the other way around. We pride ourselves and ensuring we have an engaging curriculum with a breadth of learning opportunities and we must put good preparation time aside to ensure that this continues.
Main Action Areas:
Leaders to highlight links between existing and new curriculum to avoid duplicating skills and adversely affecting coverage.
To provide a supportive skeleton to support middle leaders focus in on what implementation of new National Curriculum will require.
To write subject action plans detailing the changes that will need to be done in relation to their subject to provide new National Curriculum. Within the action plan to consider links between other subjects/areas
Staff to have option of subject Leader course as offered by Lancashire if needed to implement changes to their curriculum
To provide overview of each subject using National Curriculum framework for all staff
Leaders to details to Governors in Subject report to Govs the extent of any changes.
Staff to be given allocated Subject leader session to document changes in their subject and report to staff at staff meetings ( Planned for Spring 2014) , how such changes will be incorporated into our creative curriculum
To present overview of new curriculum as a whole in readiness for implementation
Leaders files to detail what Leaders has done to get ready for Sept 2014 using Leaders log.
Staff meeting time planned in Summer 2014 for every subject to cascade training to staff
Subject leaders to produce a subject overview in light of National Curriculum for September 2014 to detail revised changes
Subject leaders to develop opportunities for assessment , leading to levelling within their subjects after Sept 2014
Subject leaders to show how child initiated learning can be applied within their subject whilst maintaining coverage under the new National Curriculum
Curriculum leader to oversee subject coverage through annual overviews in Sept 2014
All staff confident to begin new National Curriculum in September 2014
