Disadvantaged Funding

What is the pupil premium?

The pupil premium is additional funding given to schools so that they can support their disadvantaged pupils and close the attainment gap between them and their peers. It was introduced in April 2011 and is allocated to schools to work with pupils who have been registered for free school meals (FSM) at any point in the last six years. Looked after children and those of service personnel also attract funding.

The pupil premium rose to £1.875 billion in 2013-14, with schools attracting £900 per child. For primary schools there was a rise to £1,320 in 2016-17 and to £1,900 for Looked After Children. The pupil premium allowance for secondary schools is £935 per eligible pupil.

At Longton primary School we do not recieve a great amount of monies via this funding stream but what we do recieve makes a huge diffrence to the learning needs of individual children.  We encouarge all parents to look in to this funding and if their child can benefit from it.  Please google 'applying for fsm lancashire' for more info or follow the link below

Provision to support pupils identified and eligible for pupil premium grants is carefully planned and implemented based on the needs of individuals including those most vulnerable.

Our Pupil Premium grant for 2017- 2018 was £21000

Our Pupil Premium grant for 2018- 2019 is approximately £17000
