Times Tables
Welcome to the Times tables page.
This year your child will be Multiplication Table Check. The multiplication tables check (MTC) is statutory for all year 4 pupils registered at state-funded maintained schools, special schools or academies (including free schools) in England. The check will be completed in June this year.
The most common questions are:
1. What is the purpose?
The purpose of the check is to determine whether your child can fluently recall their times tables up to 12, which is essential for future success in mathematics. It will also help your child’s school to identify if your child may need additional support.
2. What is the multiplication tables check?
It is an on-screen check consisting of 25 times table questions. Your child will be able to answer 3 practice questions before taking the actual check. They will then have 6 seconds to answer each question. On average, the check should take no longer than 5 minutes to complete.
3. What can I do to help?
We will be doing daily multiplications in class. However, I understand you may have questions about how you can help at home. But that's the thing about mutiplication, you can check it anywhere! Quick fire fluency quesitons on a drive, walk or even at tea time!

Please be aware, that if your child wants to play 'Jamming' then they choose their own mutliplication to check. This is helpful when wanting to learn specific multiplications. However, we want to ensure we are progressing through recalling all Times Tables therefore games mode such as Gig, Garage and Soundcheck are more suitable.
