Today, Oliver's mum (Y3) bought in Nutmeg an amazing guide dog. We had an extremely informative conversation about how people who are visually challenged manage to live independently. The highlight was every child being able to stroke Nutmeg.

Trip to Blackpool to watch Aladdin, by Mr Pearson

Today the whole school got on 3 double deckers and travelled to Blackpool Globe Theatre pleasure land to watch Aladdin. We all had a fabulous time thank you very much to all our volunteers who came to help and to Anna for organising.

English

We have been focussing on the book, Cosmic by Frank Cottrell-Boyce and have been writing diary entries like we are really in the book. Its about a boy who is 12 however looks like he is a 18 year old.

 

Maths

We have been the bus stop method for division. We have also been doing 3x2 digit multiplication. We have been doing multiplication and division word problems.

 

Science

In science we have been learning about space and what order the planets come in the solar system. We have also had a man from prime VR to take us on an adventure through space.

 

History

In history we have been doing about Baghdad and that it had some of the first advanced technological breakthroughs. It also had some of the first universities and hospitals.

Meerkats have had Coach Becky in today for an Online Safety morning. Part of their task was to produce a short animation of a film explaining how to keep safe online.

Meerkats holiday activities 
Mathletics - go through any of the objectives you don't feel secure with and have a go at the tasks. Also on mathletics there is live mathletics, please don't just go on level 1, push yourself up to 4 or beyond.
Reading Eggs - Have a go at a comprehension a week it will keep your mind working.
Time tables Rockstars  - It's essential that you have rapid recall of your times tables in Y5 the summer is a fantastic time to increase your knowledge.
Read a book of your choice, go to Longton library and loan a few books to read. 
Holiday passport - You can do on Google Classroom or in your red book.

Have a lovely holiday and make lots of amazing memories.

Today, Mabel play a piece of music called 'Moonbeam' in readiness for her Grade 4 piano exam. The Meerkats, Mrs. Brown,myself and special guest star Mrs Bolton enjoyed her performance, well done Mabel.

An exciting day in the Meerkat tribe. An amazing hour with the Bug man learning about life cycles in animals. The children were captivated as well as Mrs Doherty and myself.Some  lucky children got to handle some of the mini beasts.
