A great day out

On Monday 30th September the Kangaroos had a fantastic day out at Brockholes in the Lake District. After a lenghty coach journey thanks mostly to the traffic around Hutton, penwortham and Preston the children arrived ready to face the challenges of the climbing wall and the zip wire.

After being strapped into harnesses they were ready for action. The climbing wall was huge but that didn't stop the Kangaroos tackling it with determination. Jake was very quick as he scampered up to the top, he remined me of a squirrel he was that quick. alisha and her amazing climbing wellies soon made it to the top too. Aninie came down from her amazing climb to declare this was the best trip ever!. Every single Kangaroo did an amazing job on the climbing wall, each of them over came their fears and on each climb got higher and higher.

The next challenge was to climb the 17m tower to do the zip wire. Every member of the tribe climbed to the top and all but 2 took on the cha;lenge to slide down the 250m wire. It as an amazing sight to see the Kangaroos flying thriugh the air, many of them doing Gangam style as this did so. Lots of the children were very scared at the top of the zip wire but they were very brave and with the support of their friends managed to fly!

After luch we had fun playing team games. Challenges included working in a group to lift a hoop up and down using one finger tip each, making a square in the air with a rope and then laying it on the floor without letting go and the amazing scream and run game.

As a reward for showing such fantastic team work skills all day the children were allowed some time on the amazing play park.

It really was agreat day out, the children were very well behaved and the instructors commented that they were a lovely class who are a credit to the school. It was lovely to hear the children talk about how proud they were of themselves and to hear their opinions of the trip. Many of them declared it was the best trip ever and I did have a giggle when Matthew declared that there was only one word to describe the day SCARY!!!
