Healthy Eating Day

This morning Stephen from the football development programme came to work with us. First we went into the hall to do some football skills. We started with dribbling. The children learnt to dribble by using small touches and keeping the ball under control. Stephen told them that control was more important than speed.all of the children learnt that in football on your toes means keep jogging on the spot. They also learnt that getting your head up means being aware of everything that is going on around you. To practise this the children could only dribble to people standing in front of the same coloured cone . The third important part of dribbling is communication. After mastering all of those things the children learnt to do a stop turn. Logan was particularly good at stop turns and remembered which way to turn his body,Stephen said it was almost perfect! Molly was also praised for taking time to think about which way to turn. Next we learnt the step over turn . Abi was chosen to demonstrate this turn as Stephen said it was probably the best he had seen today. Well done Abi! After learning all of the skills the children had to put them all together without making any mistakes. Brilliant skills training meant that matches could be played. Erin F, Bobby, Grace, Will, Lauren and Isaac were picked to be team captains. Teams were sorted quickly and sensibly. Throughout the session the Hippo's behaviour was outstanding , they listened, looked, learnt and had lots of fun. They really have shown that Longton Pupils Shine.
