Healthy Eating Part 2

Back in the classroom the children have been thinking about eating by looking at the diets of professional footballers. The children looked at what Lionel Messi might eat on a typical training day and on a typical match day. They had to think about breakfast, lunch, tea and healthy snacks and drinks. The children learnt about why it is important not to eat too much before exercise as it can make you feel sick or give you a stitch. Jasmine shared her menu for Cristiano Ronaldo, Andrew shared his menu for Joe Hart, Erin W shared her menu for Steven Gerrard, Logan shared his menu for Jack Wilshere. Next the children looked at a food and drink nutrition table which was a list of foods and drinks and the amount of calories, carbohydrates, protein and fat in each.THe children had to calculate the carbohydrates, calorie and protein intake of 3 different footballers. Amazing maths skills were on display as they added up the lists. Another challenge was to find 4 things that Cristiano ROnaldo could have for tea that would give him between 600 and 800 calories. The next challenge was a wordsearch which had to be done by themselves . The wordsearch involved finding the names ofb10 footballers and 10 items of healthy food. At the end of the session Stephen praised the class for their excellent behaviour and manners. Erin W summed the morning up by saying she had had 200% fun this morning.
