Kangaroos at the circus

The Kangaroos all looked amazing in their various circus themed costumes as they walked into class on Friday. The day began with a really funny assembly delivered by Winston who amazed the children with his amazing circus skills. Back in class we began the day by comparing circuses in 1914 with those of the 21st century. As part of this years theme remembering World War one we then learnt about how animals such as Lizzie, an elephant in Sheffield kept Britain running by delivering things such as scrap metal which would have been done by horses before the war. Lizzie had to wear specially made leather boots to protect her feet in the scrap yard. After dinner it was our turn in the hall to do circus skills with Winston. The children did a fantastic job balancing feathers on their fingers and chins and then spinning plates.

Our last activity was a fun one making circus tents.
