Viking Longship Investigation

This afternoon we found out that in 1997 a Viking longship was found in waters near Copenhagen in Denmark. It was 35m long, one of the longest found.

we went outside to see just how long 35m is. We took it in turns to measure 1 m. In the photos Matthew is at the front of the boat, he is a long way away. We then stood in pairs along the length just as the Vikings would have and we didn't fill the boat.

This is a big boat to have been made of wood by hand and to have sailed so far .
