Rainbow Day

Date: 27th Jun 2022 @ 6:52pm

Thank you everyone for looking so fantastic in your Rainbow clothes.

The day started with a whole school assembly where we listened to a story about the Rainbow Flag and how it became a symbol of Pride.

Back in class after an assembly rehearsal we continued the work we have been doing in Jigsaw looking at different types of families. We all agreed that every special is special and that it is ok for families to be different.

After that we had a think about our colour, red and the meaning behind it, life. We made a list of amazing vocabulary on the board such as love, heart, blood, growth, happiness, acceptance, sadness and many more. We also had  visit from two members of staff from Hutton Grammar School and they were impresed with our work. The next task was to work in groups to paint these words and symbols on large pieces of paper in readunes to use later in the day.

Following on from the painting task we did some rainbow themed maths and then wrote a recipe for a special family.

After dinner we had a singing rehearsal and began to work in pairs to make equality bracelets ( we will finish making htm during the week).

The day finished with an outdoor assembly where we all shared what we had been doing. We also used our red paintings to form the first row of out giant Rainbow Flag. Mr Dunbar took an aerial shot using his drone. It will look amazing.
