The week ahead - 11th June

I hope you have had a wonderful relaxing holiday.  The weather has been amazing, let's hope it continues. 

This week we will be a busy one, we have dance from the heart on Tuesday, Fathers Day lunch on Tuesday and Wednesday, also on Wednesday we will be thinking about road safety as part of the charity Brake. On Friday it is non-uniform day to bring in items for the Summer fair next week.

In class 

English.  We are starting a Paddington themed unit this week.  When I've discussed it with the children I will send more details of our plans. This will link into writing instructions this week.

Maths - our focus will be on Place Value this week. Adding and subtracting 1,10,100. Ordering and comparing numbers.  Problem solving and reasoning tasks related to these aspects. 

P.E. tennis skills, we will also be starting our daily mile run/walk.  Over the holidays a special track has been created around the field, if finished we will be able to give it a go this week. 

R.E. our unit this half term is Church as a community, leading others.  This week our focus will be on the work and lives of Desmond Tutu and Martin Luther King.

Art - we will be creating some cards for Father's Day. 

PSHE - Jigsaw.  We will be finishing off last terms unit by focusing our relationships with the world in regarding to supporting charities. Our focus will be on the work of UNICEF

DT - On Thursday we have hoping to do some baking to link with our English work on following instructions. 

On Friday of this week we will be devoting the whole day to our topic work.  The children will be in a group of 6 and carry out a number of tasks linked to one of our topic curriculum areas - History, Geography, DT, Art, Science.  Over the next 5 weeks they will experience a day for each of the topic areas.
