Hard Working Hippos

The Hippos have had a very busy week and have made a fantastic start to all of their new topics and units of work. On Friday we all had fun going on a material search. The children had to use their scientific brains to identify the materials that they could see around them in the classroom and outside. Once they had made their lists we had lots of good discussions about how so many things inside school are made from plastic, about how the use of materials has changed over time and about whether material we had observed were man made or natural. Grat science thinking was displayed.

We also made a start on our Roman topic with the class producing a piece of art work to show what they thought a Roman town might look like. Again this activity led to lots of super discussion.

On Thursday your child should have brought home their homework and a copy of this terms outline of work.

Please remember that we will be swimming on Thursday and to check the parent mail/ letter sent on Friday with regards to suitable swimwear, the need for a swimming cap and the form regarding the wearing of goggles. The swimming teacher has also asked that any children with verrucas have a verruca sock. If your child uses an inhaler pleases could I have one in school to take with us to the pool incase of emergencies.

Over the comimg days I will post the outline of work on this page and I will continue to add links to useful websites.
