Action Plan History Geography 2013

During the 2013/14 school year, we'll be having a whole school focus on World War 1; 29th July 2014 will mark the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the war. This will feature themed activity days throughout the year! Check this section of the website for photos / reports.

All History and Geography is now covered through our Creative Curriculum topics. Our aim in History is to promote children's knowledge of British History. Our aim in Geography is to engage children with the world around us, both physical and human. Children need to have an understanding of their local environment and to contrast this with other environments they may not be familiar with.

As History and Geography are topic related this may not occur each term.

Many classes used trips to enhance History/Geography learning. For example, in 2013 Year 5 visited the Imperial War Museum in Manchester as part of their 'British life in WW2' topic.

Skills ladders are collected to make sure that topic coverage throughout the year includes the skills necessary in these subjects.
