Art, by Miss Leigh

Date: 21st Apr 2017 @ 2:04pm

The front of school is looking rather beautiful so instead of drawing flowers from a vase, we ventured out and sketched what we saw.  We focused on drawing what we could see and trying to show depth in our sketches.

It's been a busy week., by Mrs Fletcher

Date: 21st Apr 2017 @ 1:49pm

Well what a busy week! It's been four jam packed days of fun and learning. The Bongos have come back after their Easter break ready to impress with their behaviour for learning. Highlights of the week have been the assembly by Isaac Towers, the smoothies, move a mile, acting out emotions as we come through a door, telling Mrs Fletcher that she has 47 fingers !!!!

The children have worked hard in maths this week showing just how amazing their place value knowledge is - well done everybody 😀

The children have also impressed me with their work on past and present tense and have been showing off their knowledge of grammar and punctuation in today's writing lesson.

Don't forget to have a go on Spellodrome over the weekend .

What an action packed day! , by Mrs Catterall

Date: 20th Apr 2017 @ 9:45pm

Today has been an exciting day in lots of ways.

We spent the first half an hour this morning sat in our newly extended room, taking in our new surroundings, being excited by the space and the freshly painted walls.  Then the move started. The children were extremely sensible carrying the tables and moving all our belongings into our room.   We are still in the process of putting everything back in its place so photos will follow next week.

After play we had a special assembly as we welcomed Isaac into school.  Isaac Towers is 18 years old and a  paralympian athlete who competed in Rio last year.  He explained his bike to us and we got to see his medals, they were quite heavy!

This afternoon we completed our move for 15 mins.  There were some very red faces at the end, I don't think they realised that running for 15 mins without stopping was going to be so tough.  Everyone got into the spirit and we had some skipping and hopping as well.  We finished off with our delicious smoothies.

As well as Art and History it has certainly been a fantastic action packed day.

Monday's times table practise., by Mrs Catterall

Date: 20th Apr 2017 @ 9:25pm

On Monday we had great fun making a quick game to help us practise our 4x and 8x tables.  We wrote the calculation on one side of a piece of card and the answer on the other.  We showed our partner the calculation and they recalled the answer to win the card.  The second time around the person was shown the answer and they had to recall the calculation.  There was hardly a sound in class as they all concentrated hard to win the cards.  Many of the children chose to take their game home to continue practising.

Journeys around the world and more....., by Mrs Hothersall

Date: 17th Apr 2017 @ 11:32am

Hope you have all had a lovely Easter holiday and a good rest ready for the last full term of being in Reception. This half term we are learning about different places around the world and using different forms of transport to get there. A curriculum letter will be sent out in the first week.

Week commencing 18th April we will be thinking about our Easter holidays and what Easter means to us, this is a great start to our half term as children have had experience of Easter and so will be able to share some ideas with their friends. We will also be looking at a story called the naughty bus. This is a great link for PSHE and thinking about friendships and behaviour. The naughty bus will get up to all kinds of mischief. Next week we will then think about travelling around the UK  by train and that is where our journey will begin with a story called the train ride and then we will think about the UK.

See you all on Tuesday.
