Author Visit - Longton Library, by Mrs Catterall
Date: 15th Dec 2018 @ 8:36pm
We had a really enjoyable morning at at the library. We met Graham Fletcher the author of 'Oleg the Giant'. We talked about what makes us want to read a book and looked around the library for a book we might choose to read and explain to our partners why we chose it.
We explored the idea of a giant and measured some of us to see who was as close to the size of Oleg.
Mr Fletcher then read us his story. He stopped near the end and left it on a cliff hanger!!! Luckily Mrs Catterall has a copy and finished the story. We really enjoyed it and are going to do some work in English about the book after Christmas.

Jsut before we headed into the hall for our Christmas Lunch we had a festive sing song, with The Twelve Days of Christmas being the winning performance.
In the hall the children were all able to pull a cracker whilst enjoying their school Christmas lunch or packed lunch with their friends and lots of Christmas music.
This afternoon was film time with the whole school joining together to watch the film Wonder, the Bongos all picked up on the important messages in the film- ask them to share their thoughts with you.

Another busy week, by Mrs McLennan
Date: 7th Dec 2018 @ 4:35pm
We have been continuing to work hard this week. We’ve written letters imagining that we were soldiers in the trenches. We used our history skills to find out lots of information and discovered if it was primary or secondary evidence. We used this knowledge to add detail in our letters. Yesterday we had a visit to the library and listened to Tom read some Christmas stories- they made us laugh out loud. We’ve also been busy learning about fractions.
