Assessment and Data information

Assessment at Longton

At Longton, assessment takes place daily for both academic and character development. We achieve this through active in-lesson feedback and immediate marking. Additionally, we conduct three formal assessment weeks to assist teachers in identifying areas of learning that pupils may not yet be able to apply accurately, enabling prompt action to be taken. Our goal is for 83% of all our pupils to meet age-related expectations. We maintain an open-door policy for discussions about learning with parents and will proactively reach out if we believe an additional update would be helpful, whether to address areas needing improvement or to celebrate recent achievements. Each school year, we organise two face-to-face parents' evenings, provide personalised data information twice a year, and issue a formal report and data towards the end of the academic year. A member of the senior leadership meets with the teaching team for three progress and attainment meetings throughout the year to discuss the strategies they are implementing to ensure all pupils succeed in their learning.
