Parking
Parking and Road Safety
At Longton Primary School and Nursery, we ask all parents and carers to help keep our children, families and local residents safe by parking considerately and following our guidance around the school.
Our Voluntary One-Way System
If you bring your child to school by car, we operate a voluntary one-way system to help reduce congestion around School Lane.
Where possible, please:
Enter School Lane from the church end.
Leave via Bank Croft or Liverpool Road.
Keep your speed to a maximum of 20 mph.
Be alert and considerate towards pedestrians at all times.
Parking Safely
Please help us to keep everyone safe by following these important rules:
Park safely before allowing your child to get out of the car.
Do not stop or park on yellow hatched markings.
Do not park on pavements, as this can put pedestrians, including families with pushchairs, at risk.
Never block our neighbours' driveways, even for a few seconds.
Please be considerate of local residents and other road users.
Additional parking is available at the Bowling Club car park, which we are permitted to use. Please consider using this facility to help ease congestion around the school.
Staggered Start Times
To help reduce traffic congestion at the start of the school day, we have staggered the arrival times for different year groups:
Years 3, 4, 5 and 6: Children may enter school from 8:40 am.
EYFS, Years 1 and 2: Children enter school from 8:50 am.
Please help us by arriving at the appropriate time for your child's year group.
Walking Bus
Why not consider using our Walking Bus as an alternative to driving to school?
The Walking Bus sets off from Booths at 8:30 am each morning and is led by members of our school staff. Children can walk to school together in a safe, supervised group, helping to reduce traffic and congestion around the school.
Parents and carers do not need to accompany their child as the Walking Bus is led by school staff.
We would encourage families to consider using this service as a way to support a healthier journey to school while helping to keep the roads around Longton Primary School safer for everyone.
Public Transport
If you are able to walk, cycle or use public transport for the school run, this can help reduce congestion around the school.

Thank you for your support and cooperation in keeping our school community safe and being considerate of our neighbours. By working together, we can help make the journey to and from school safer for everyone.
Thank you for helping our Longton community CARE.
