Useful Links

Here are some useful links to support your child's learning at home.

  • The Oxford Owl website has lots of free resources for parents to support your children's progress in literacy.
  • Top Marks has lots of interactive games for all curriculum areas.
  • Phonics Play has some free phonics games (I recommend the Phase 5 section of the website).
  • Similar to Top Marks, ICT games has lots of interactive games to try at home.
  • Primary Homework Help has an enormous selection of online resources created by a primary school teacher from Kent.

If you have found any useful websites at home that you would like to share, please let me know and I will add them to our page.

DK Find Out is great for researching all areas of the foundation curriculum.

You could do some further reserach about the topics we have covered so far this year.

Food - What foods are well known for certain towns / areas of the country? e.g. Kendal - Mint cake, Lancashire/cheshire -cheese.  How is cheese made?   Cartmel - sticky toffee pudding.

Can you draw the houses that people might have lived in during the Stone Age, Iron Age and Bronze age.  How were these different?  Research Skara Brae in Scotland, make a poster or information leaflet all about it.

Create fact files about some of the world's most powerful volcanoes - maybe you could make your own top trumps game of volcanoes, earthquakes or mountains.

We really enjoyed our magnets work before Christmas, if you have any magnets you could try and design and make another game, it could be Easter themed this time.
