*Prank Phone Calls*, by Miss Leigh
Date: 22nd Sep 2017 @ 4:27pm
As the Bears become more independent it is highly possible they now have a phone. They will slowly begin to immerse themselves in the world of text messages, apps and social media. Today, there was some discussion around making prank phone calls and face timing unknown people between pupils. We have taken this opportunity to discuss the impact of prank phone calls, both on the recipient of the phone call and on those making the calls. We have talked about why we need to keep ourselves safe and how making prank phone calls can actually makes us more vulnerable.
You might want to take this opportunity to check in with your child about phone, internet and personal safety.

Homework, by Miss Reynolds
Date: 20th Sep 2017 @ 8:17am
Apparently I have been giving homework out a day early! So I won't be giving out a paper copy of the homework until tomorrow... But worry not my keen little tigers! If you feel like today is the day that you carpe diem and want to tackle that homework, feel free to download it from the links at the bottom!
Also, if you are thinking about what to do for your project homework, our topic is A Kingdom United - we are covering: everything about the Anglo-Saxons; British legends and folklore; British geography, including counties, climate, river and mountains. Make anything around one of these topics! Some ideas we have had in class have been: designing, creating and presenting Anglo-Saxon shields; a research powerpoint to present to the class on a river, mountain or any area of the UK - perhaps with some holiday pics if you've been there before; and a homemade comic of a British legend of folklore tale. Be as creative as you like!

Science, by Mrs Catterall
Date: 19th Sep 2017 @ 9:27pm
On Monday we explored a variety of resources to discover how we see. We learnt that in order to see we need a light source. That light travels in straight lines and is reflected off surfaces into our eyes. We turned the lights on and off and watched the size of our pupils change, they got bigger in the dark and smaller in the light. We investigated light using different equipment.

The week ahead, by Mrs Hothersall
Date: 18th Sep 2017 @ 7:03pm
This week we are looking at the colour red. We will be reading the story of little red riding hood, thinking about the characters and setting of the story.
We are starting phonics and will learn a new sound each day the sounds this week are s, a, t, p. We should then be able to make simple words for eg. Sat, tap, pat. Yeah the start of reading.
We will be sending home the phonics packs so please encourage your child to tell you what each sound/phoneme is and then have a go at writing that letter.
In maths we are counting to 20, adding granny's cakes and having a little look at shapes.
We will be baking in Friday just like the cakes that red riding hood took to granny.
Fun, fun and more fun!
