We have been busy reading the story of stickman, making lots of Christmas things and then we were ready for lunch.

Today the elephants enjoyed a visit to the library for a Christmas story session . There were a couple involving Brussels sprouts and some interesting noises!

We also used our finger painting skills to make a 4 season tree for our calendars.

This week we have been exploring Light. Children in year 6 had made some videos about Light.  They came to share them with the class.  We have carried out lots of different activities to find out more about Light and how it works in different ways.  We will come back and explore Light further next term.

We have been continuing to work hard this week. We’ve written letters imagining that we were soldiers in the trenches. We used our history skills to find out lots of information and discovered if it was primary or secondary evidence. We used this knowledge to add detail in our letters. Yesterday we had a visit to the library and listened to Tom read some Christmas stories- they made us laugh out loud. We’ve also been busy learning about fractions.

Well done to the elephants who enjoyed their class compliment this afternoon. They bought in onesies,teddies, blankets and snuggled down to watch Horrid Henry,an  interval of pop corn and lemonade made a great way to finish a busy week😊

This week we have put on our Christmas play ,It’s a baby.We hope you all enjoyed it , we think we were amazing!

We have also been using grapes to help us with our fraction work, were able to share them out equally by sometimes having to chop them on half.

Today we used the large apparatus in our gymnastics lesson, we did some great travelling, jumping and rolling, we earnt a class compliment for our fantastic listening🙂

We are looking forward to our class compliment treat tomorrow!

Lots of exciting new areas have been opened in our class. We have Santas grotto, Mrs Christmas' kitchen. Santas letter writing area and the lovely wool nativity set. Plus more to come.

This weeks homework has been sent home today, please make sure it is completed and handed in on Tuesday 11th December. It is really important that homewok is completed and handed in on time.

This weeks tasks will be : English- an activity on clauses which we have been working on in class this week.

Maths- multiplying by 10 and 100.

Please can all work be completed in the homework books neatly ( NOT ON THE SHEETS)- presentation is very important.

Thank you everybody for all of your brilliant potions homework. You have worked really hard and the work has made an amazing display in our classroom.

We will be doing our final potion work this week when we publish an amazing piece of writing each for the dispaly board .

Sas and Jazzs epic blog , by Miss Reynolds

Last Friday, we enjoyed our phenomenal class compliment treat. We got to wear our PJ's and bring pillows and blankets in. We also got to watch Arthur Christmas - an awesome movie! So far this week we have been up-levelling loathsomely boring sentences into magnificent, academic sentences. We also got to learn about the festival of Hannukah, as it is the second day of Hannukah today. It is a special Jewish festival that the celebrate for eight days because of a miracle that somehow made the candle last for eight days even though there was only enough oil for one day!

Well, we are all extremely proud after being awarded ‘Tribe of the term’ at this afternoon’s celebration assembly. It was very well deserved because we have been noticed for our excellent attitude to learning. Well done also to everyone that received a certificate. We still have lots more learning to do this term and here’s hoping that compliments keep heading our way. 

Cooking Gingerbread people!, by Mrs Pratten

The elephants had a lovely morning baking gingerbread people, the small around school was wonderful!

We also designed our own gingerbread people , using icing, raisins, cherries , chocolate chips and smarties and are looking forward to decorating them tomorrow.

A big thank you to Elizabeth’s mum and Freya’s Grandma who were our amazing helpers😁

Lancashire crisp tasting., by Mrs Catterall

Fiddlers Lancashire crisps. Potatoes grown in Ormskirk and made into crisps at their farm. We explored their website and then tasted them.  We had some very funny faces for some of the flavours.  It was great to see everyone having a go and trying some of the crisps.

As part of Parliament week we have been learning about the Houses of Parliament, we have been having lots of votes in class and thinking about persuading people about what the best colour is.  We have had a visit from the mayor of Preston and from Seema Kennedy.
