I hope the children have all had a good rest and most seem to be fully recovered from all their coughs and colds , thank goodness!
This Week the children have been enjoying the story The Monster Machine and have been busy creating horrible monster recipes which, when put in a machine, makes monsters. We had fun today drawing and describing the types of monsters that they had created. Tomorrow we are going to think about the monster land where they live.
In Maths we have been adding, using our knowledge of number bonds to try to help. Tomorrow we will be adding 2 digit numbers together by partitioning.
We started our Geography work on weather today, looking at the different types of weather, what we can do in that weather and what our favourite weather is.
We also looked at a map of the United Kingdom and discussed the 4 countries that make it up and also the 4 compass points. We had fun acting out different weather, using props for others to guess what the weather was and why. Can you guess?!

In class we have been discussing issues in the news. As part of this work the children had to create a poster to campaign for an issue that was important to them, something they would like to see change. The children had some amazing ideas, I am very proud of their commitment to understand some big issues in the world and care about how these will effect them in the future.

Science Week Day 4, by Mrs Fletcher
Date: 22nd Mar 2018 @ 2:09pm
This morning we have had lots of fun with eggs. we made hypotheses about whether or not it is possible to crack an egg by holding the egg in your palm or between your thumb and forefinger. We found out that it wasn't. We then wrapped our eggs in cling film and applied force to one area of the gg and they cracked. We discovered that eggs have strong points where the pressure is equally spread so they don't crack.
Our next eggsperiment was to answer the question will an egg float in tap water? We discovered that they do t . We then aasked will an egg float in salty water? We made up a salt solution which we topped up with tap water. The egg sank through the tap water but when it reached the salty water at the bottom of the jug it floated. This is because salt water is denser that tap water.
The morning finished watching a fantastic sho called Journey To The Bottom of The Earth.
After lunch we discussed healthy diets and thought about vegetarianism before designing science lab coats.

Tremendous Tuesday, by Mrs Pratten

The Penguins finished cooking for their enterprise this morning.A big thank you to Grace's grandma who came in and helped again and a big thank you to parents and children who helped after school. All our pizza slices went and there were lots of great comments about how delicious they were - well done Penguins! Linda is counting the money for us and I will let you know our profit. I know some people are keen to have a go at making the pizzas at home, Iwill let you have a copy so you can have a go over Easter.
The Penguins enjoyed looking for the shortest and longest leaves around school and measuring them and then recording the results. The longest was actually the leaves on the spider plant in the classroom.
More science fun tomorrow ๐
