Outdoor play is essential for early childhood development, it provides the space and sensory stimulation children need to build gross motor skills and regulate emotions. At Nursery outdoor play is part of our daily routine. 🩡

Pen Disco is our favourite at Nursery ✏️😊

Pen Disco is a popular EYFS activity designed to boost children's fine motor skills, pencil grip and handwriting readiness through music and movement. It involves children drawing shapes and lines on paper, whiteboards or chalk boards, to a beat. ✏️😊

At Nursery, we enjoyed an active Zumba session on the interactive whiteboard. 😊

At Nursery, we enjoyed a PE session on the ball cage. We moved our bodies in a range of different ways (walk, run, jump, hop) and we even enjoyed a hoop and beanbag game to finish the session. 

It is important in the Early Years to carry out short PE sessions, it builds strong muscles and bones, enhances motor skills- coordination and balance and can help improve concentration. πŸ…πŸ˜Š

Winnie-the-Pooh- World Book Day, by Miss Farnworth

At Longton Primary School, we celebrated World Book Day by marking 100 years of Winnie-the-Pooh. 

A fun week was had by all in Nursery, we enjoyed:

  • Winnie-the-Pooh made out of spaghetti- Messy sensory tray.
  • Decorating Winnie-the-Pooh pictures and we even created Winnie-the-Pooh character paper chains.
  • Pin the Tail on Eeyore.
  • Winnie-the-Pooh Playdough station.
  • Making Honey Biscuits.

What a super week in Nursery. Our favourite part was coming to Nursery dressed as Winnie-the-Pooh characters. πŸ”΄πŸŸ‘

The Tiger Who Came to Tea, by Miss Farnworth

Our theme at Nursery this week has been The Tiger Who Came to Tea! πŸ…πŸ˜Š

We have enjoyed lots of lovely activities! We have explored the story structure, while encouraging imaginative play and looked at tiger related activities, as the children have shown a keen interest in tigers. Exploring tigers habitat, diet and unique markings. Our favourite part was all the tea parties we had. 🍰πŸͺπŸ«–

 

Chinese New Year, by Miss Farnworth

At Nursery we have enjoyed learning all about Chinese New Year. We looked at the Chinese Zodiac, we set up a Chinese restaurant and made Chinese New Year paper chains. πŸͺ­πŸ§§πŸ˜Š

Learning all about Chinese New Year in the Early Years, fosters cultural diversity, inclusion and global awareness. It encourages empathy and understanding of different traditions, helping children appreciate similarities and differences. 

Fire Engine at Nursery, by Miss Farnworth

At Nursery, we have enjoyed doing the Funky Fingers Challenge 🌈😊 This helps develop fine motor skills, hand and finger strength, and hand-eye coordination. These are essential foundational skills for everyday tasks and early writing. Good work Elephants 🐘

In Nursery, we have shown lots of interest in the story Dear Zoo, so we created our very own Dear Zoo Tuff Tray. We have had great fun creating our very own story scenes.
