No pencil Wednesday , by Mrs Fletcher

Date: 10th Oct 2018 @ 8:42pm

For 3 lessons today the children were not allowed to use pencil, paper or any other writing implements. The first session involved lining up as a class in response to different criteria such as month of birthday. The tricky part of this was that no talking was allowed . The Bongos rose to this challenge magnificently and communicated through gestures  and by guiding each other into position. Real teamwork in action. The next lesson was English. After watching clips of storytellers in action the children worked in pairs to tell stories. They used picture books and stories they were familiar with and videoed their efforts on iPads. The final session involved one person describing a shape which their partner had to identify. Once correctly identified a counter was placed on the shape mat.

Discussing the day the children said that they had missed being able to plan their stories with a pencil but they felt they had used other skills such as listening, teamwork and speaking really well.

Jazz blog, by Miss Reynolds

Date: 10th Oct 2018 @ 3:03pm

We watched the true story of the three little pigs where the wolf was innocent and he didn't kill the pigs,we thought at first the pigs and the wolf were both innocent but then only the wolf was innocent. We were thinking about bias and perspectives , which were hard to understand at first, but then we understood it.Later in the future, we will be writing a newspaper artical of the wolf being innocent. We came up with alot of headlines for the newspaper here are a few of our headlines:a cup of lies from preposterous pig porky pies from Saskia; despicable pigs ruin it again from Jolie; and victim wolf verses criminal pigs from Holly. We enjoyed it can't wait to write it next week!
