James And Joe Blog No.28, by Mrs Pratten
Date: 23rd Jun 2017 @ 3:04pm
This Week In Year 4, we have been playing our violins yet again and our school concert is in 3 Weeks so we better get ready and practice! In maths we have been doing symmetry and messing with shapes. We've been cutting out triangals and making shapes with them. We tried to copy the exact shape on the other side and that was the tricky part! In English, we have had a proper debate about for or against zoos. Both sides (For And Against) had some good arguments in stock and the debate ended in a draw and under some circumstances, zoos were alowed in our world!

Science-plants, by Mrs Catterall
Date: 19th Jun 2017 @ 9:50pm
What a lovely day. We took the opportunity to take our learning outside this afternoon and sit in the shade.
We started the lesson by exploring all the words we could think of connected to 'plants' and then tried to link them together by sharing the facts we already knew. What does a plant look like? We had lots of similar ideas when asked to draw a plant - a stem, a leaf at either side and a round flower centre with petals around it.
With our clipboards in hand we set off out into the school grounds to find a plant and develop our observation skills by drawing different examples of plant life.
Back in class we sorted a variety of pictures under the headings, alive, not alive , never alive. We had some interesting discussions especially about the picture of a fire.
Glass and plastic - were they once alive? See what you can discover?
