Last weeks fun., by Mrs Catterall
Date: 26th Feb 2018 @ 6:51am
Last week was a busy first week back. We spent a lot of the week focusing on our new topic of the Stone Age.
We looked at 2 stories UG and The Stone Age Boy. We read in pairs, acted it out, wrote diary entries and discovered all about life in the Stone Age. We made our own paint brushes from sticks and other items outside, we made mud paint and then had a go at painting Stone Age animals with it all. It was very tricky as it was cold and windy, it made the experience all the more real.
I wonder what we will be discovering this week.

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a lovely half term and feel ready for the next five weeks. Just a few things that are going on:
- We're going to Priory tomorrow for a taster day - we'll be doing P.E, Food Tech, Art and Science. We've been asked to go in our P.E kit, so if it isn't already in school, can you please send it in tomorrow.
- I'm still missing quite a few medical forms for the Hothersall Lodge trip - if you need another one they are available on the blog, or I can give you paper copy if you pop into school at some point.
- Hothersall lodge trip is fast approaching! Please check the kit-list in preparation. I've been made aware that the powerpoint I put up is the old version and I will update it again this evening because I can't for the life of me find where I've saved the updated one now!
- Our topic for this half term is 'Inventors and Inventions' - we'll be looking at great thinker, inventors and scientists throughout the ages with a particular focus on the Golden Age of Islam and 8th century Baghdad. We'll be looking at forces in Science and in D.T we will be looking at cams and cogs. For projects, you could research an inventor in depth and create a booklet, draw schematics for your own invention, or even create a prototype for your own creation!
