Today we went outside for orienteering. We had maps showing coloured cones.  There were coloured cones dotted around the ball cage just like our map.  Each map had a different route on it.  We had to follow the map and write down the codes under each cone.  There were 8 different maps to try.  It got a bit tricker towards the end as all the cones became white and we had remember to keep our map the correct way around.

Week beginning the 22nd Jan, by Miss Reynolds

Date: 21st Jan 2018 @ 1:16pm

Hello everybody! Thank you so much for coming to our class assembly last week! It was great to see so many of you there to support us. As a result of all our hard work, we earned our Class Compliment, which means we get a class reward this week! We have decided on building dens and watching a movie in our pj's. It's going to take place on Wednesday afternoon, so if you want to bring pyjamas and any blankets you want, that'd be great.

It's also parent's evening on Monday and Wednesday, which means that projects should be in on Monday. If projects have slipped your mind, please don't panic and rush it tonight - if you want to make one, just drop it in before Wednesday and we'll add it to our display for Wednesday's parent's evening and we'll share them with the rest of the class sometime after that. smiley

Also, some parents have been asking about Hothersall Lodge - I will send out a Parent Mail about it this week, but I have set a preliminary date of Wednesday 31st January (TBC). I will send out the kitlist with the Parent Mail too.

Finally, we will be going to see our buddies on Thursday afternoon. I know lots of people have been doing nice little things for their buddies, so just thought it was worth giving you a heads-up about it. smiley

Right... I think that's all from me! Have a lovely week, and this week for the Tigers will look like this:

English: Slow writing about the rainforest.

GPS: Reviewing statutory word list & prepositions

Maths: Co-ordinates & 2D shapes

Science: Life cycles

PSHE: Jigsaw - dreams & goals

R.E: Hindu stories

French: Family

PE: Invasion games

If you have any artefacts/special skills/holiday pics etc. that would help us with our learning - please feel free to volunteer them! We would love to have some visitors to our class this year and learning always works best when it is contextualised!

Week Beginning Monday 23rd January 2018, by Mrs Coxhead

Date: 20th Jan 2018 @ 12:06pm

Hello all :)

I hope that you are having a great weekend!

We have one more week of hard work on the play and then we will be back to normal timetable! This week we are rounding off our work on money in maths. Counting how much money we have and selecting coins to make an amount. In English, we have our own targets to do a little writing about how bees make honey. We are also working on our written comprehension skills. In phonics, Mrs Thomson's group is working on different pronounciations of 'u' and 'ie'. Mrs Coxhead's group is working on ph, wh, au and oe.

Couple of notes about The Bee Musical:

  • Thank you for your support with costumes and learning lines so far.
  • Please remember to bring costumes to school in named bag. If there are any bits that you don't have at home, please let us know as soon as possible so we have time to get them.
  • This week homework is to work hard on our lines so that we are confident with our words. Remember to have a listen to the songs, too!

I look forward to seeing you next week.

Many thanks,

Mrs Coxhead

Catch up on blog No.7, by Miss Reynolds

Date: 17th Jan 2018 @ 2:46pm

Hi,angel

Sorry for the inconvinience we realised that Mrs Fletcher was teaching us so we couldn't catch you up. Putting that aside, we will tell you about this week. In Maths, we have played battleships. This was to strengthen our co-ordinate skills even more (We have become co-ordinates masters thanks to Miss Reynolds!). We have finished and presented our rainforest PowerPoints today. They were all excellent (The ones that we have seen so far!) and we can't wait to see the others. We have practiced our class assembaly and most of us know our lines. We have now finished our great Kapok tree in Kellys club.
