Expedition fun, by Mrs Pratten
Date: 12th Jan 2018 @ 3:56pm
Yesterday as part of our PE for this half term, we had our first orienteering session. The children learnt about symbols on maps and started to use a key. This afternoon we took out bears 🐻 on an expedition, we talked about what would be useful equipment to take and what wouldn't. The children used their maps well to find hidden objects around the playground. We discussed how exciting it was to discover something and that must be how explorers felt. We then looked at some famous explorers and talked about what they achieved.
Have a great weekend

Week Beginning Monday 8th January 2018, by Miss Adamson
Date: 6th Jan 2018 @ 12:25pm
Hello all :)
Happy New Year! I hope that you have had a wonderful Christmas break!
Here is what we are doing next week:
Maths |
We are working on number and place value. Specifically, we are practising careful number formation, finding more and less and odd and even numbers. |
English |
Father Christmas gave us the story of Bumblebear. We are looking for words with -ed endings. |
Phonics |
We will save switching groups until after check-up week so Mrs Thomson's group will study alternative pronunciations for 'i' and 'o'. Mrs Coxhead's group will review ay, ou, ie and ea. |
PE |
We will be learning about dance. |
Jigsaw |
We are beginning our new unit called Dreams and Goals. We will set our own simple goals. If you have any little boxes from Christmas at home - e.g. empty Maltesers boxes - these would be handy this week. |
Bee Musical |
We will begin rehearsals for the Bee Musical. This will feature heavily over the coming weeks! |
I look forward to seeing you all on Monday!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL
I hope you have all had a fabulous Christmas and New Year and made lots of family memories. I'm looking forward to hearing all about it on Monday.
I have attached to the main class page a curriculum overview and letter for this half term.
One thing I have enjoyed doing as a family this holiday is sitting down together to plan 1 full family day of activities each month. These aren't necesarily activities that cost lots of money, the focus has been on something we all take part in together. Some of the things we have selected are a walk and picnic on the beach, a bike ride and ice cream, a day baking all sorts of cakes for members of the family, A day at the leisure centre swimming and playing badminton. I have attached a grid we completed, if this is something you might like to do yourselves please feel free to print it out.
