Luke S blog no.1 wedding day, by Miss Reynolds
Date: 8th Dec 2017 @ 3:03pm
This Thursday we have had a wedding day. We learned about lots of different types of marriges. Love comes in all sorts of different shapes and sizes. Love doesn't alwvays mean marrige and marrige doesn't always mean love. You don't always have to marry someone because you love them. You can get an arranged marrige. In some religions a man can have as much wives as he wants. Some people commit suicide because people make fun of them being gay or lesbian. You can have platonic love to someone which means you like a friend.

Thank you for helping the Penguins look super smart for the wedding day, they all looked π
First we looked at how Christians traditionally plan and celebrate marriage. We then looked at how Hindus celebrate marriage,we found out the bride wears a purple and white dress, the groom, white. They move round a flame 4 times, the bride receives a necklace to show she is married and they give garlands to show the joining of the 2 families. We had a go at making our own paper garlands, we had to use a growth mindset because it was tricky! By the end we were experts and they looked great.

Shape Poetry, by Mrs Catterall
Date: 6th Dec 2017 @ 10:07pm
We braved the cold and took our learning outside the other morning to gather inspiration for our shape poetry. We focused on our senses and detail in what we could see to create lists of powerful vocabulary before returning to the class to create a Poem.
Time, by Mrs Catterall
Date: 6th Dec 2017 @ 10:03pm
This week we have been learning more about time. We have used a website game www.teachingtime.co.uk, this is fantastic for matching analogue and digital times. I have asked the children to start with the year 1 game and once they can complete in less than 30 seconds to move on to the next one and so on.
Please support your child with reading the time at home, talking about start and finish times of TV programmes, how long will it be on for? We are leaving at ? The time is now ? How long before we go? etc.
SCIENCE-COLE & LEON , by Miss Reynolds
Date: 6th Dec 2017 @ 2:32pm
Today in science we had to separate: rice, rocks, glitter, metal paperclips and salt-water solution. They had all been mixed together in one plastic container and we had to find a way to separate them. Our group used a magnet to get the paperclips out because they where the only metal thing in there and they would atract to the magnet. To get the glitter out we had to filter it, which was quite hard.To get the rice out we had to use a net to sieve it out.To get the rocks out we used a spoon. To get the salt out of the water we used a tealight to heat up the solution and evaporate the water which left us with the salt.We also made a time lapse of it and put it on the blog so you can see what happend;we realy enjoyed it.
