Sharing fun, by Mrs Pratten

This week the elephants have enjoyed sharing things equally with Miss Howarth, they shared money, counters and even chocolate! Then they tackled some tricky problems .
Our English work this week has been all about writing instructions, we worked as groups to write instructions, had to listen to instructions on how to draw a pigeon and then write our own.
In our plant work we have been looking at wild flowers and sorting them using a key and answering questions.

Final rehearsals today went well and we are ready for out first performance tonight. If you child wears a green PE t-shirt they will be seated on the far left, yellow left, blue right and red far right of the stage.

After visiting the Hindu Temple on Wednesday, we visited the St Andrew’s church. We spent half an hour quietly sitting, reflecting and sketching.

We have been working hard over the last week in our rehearsals and we’re nearly ready. The performances are on Wednesday and Thursday evening. We have been extremely busy this week preparing for our performance. You are in for a real treat. The children have worked incredibly hard, I am so proud of them already. If you havn't bought your tickets yet please see Linda in the office.
Costumes.
We have managed to make most of the costumes now, I have asked the girls to bring in a pair of black leggings if possible and the boys will be wearing their school trousers, remember to come back into school at night still wearing them! Some children have trousers already organised by school and they know if this doesn't apply to them.

The children have used their maths and DT skills to make model mosques. They have learnt about the different parts of the mosque.
Great fun has been had today learning how to write the Arabic alphabet and some colours in Arabic.

This week has been multi faith week in school. The Koalas have found out about 4 different religions, Islam, Hinduism, Judaism and Budhism. We also walked to St Andrews church and had a look inside.

Namaste. We have been inspired by our trip to the Hindu temple. We were awed by the shrines, the paintings of Gods on the ceilings and the offerings being made. We even did some meditating.

Today the Bongos had great fun showing off how much they know about the human digestive system. They did this using a knitted body borrowed from UCLAN. Once out of his box our new friend was christened Barry. I was very impressed with the scientific knowledge shown by the class. Well done Bongos.

Today we had a great day out at Myrscough, we explored the gardens, visited the tropical and temperate houses.We also had a sneaky look at some animals and stick insects. They let us smell lots of herbs and different plant leaves they smelt delicious, we also looked at different seeds and bulbs.We planted our own sunflower seeds, don’t forget to water them!

We had some amazing outfits for World Book Day this year. Many of the children had brought along the book that inspired their costume choice.
We spent the day being an illustrator learning to use tracing paper to transfer the design to paper. They looked amazing.
During the day we also had a trip to Longton Library, Tom read us some great stories which we could all join in with.

Thank you to everyone who supported our Toy sale over the last 2 weeks, whether you donated or bought.
The children voted on the charity they wished to support, with an overwhelming majority they chose Guide Dogs for the Blind.
We are contacting them to arrange for them to come into school so we can present them with the money and find out a little more about the work they do.

This afternoon we had our class compliment, we chose a games / party activities as outperform trip. We bought our own toys in, used some of the classroom activities, played pass the parcel and had some party treats. It was a lovely afternoon, well done Elephants!

We have kicke started Faith week by learning about Islamic art in maths and how geometric shapes are used to create patterns. In English we retold 2 Islamic stories called The Phrophet and the Ants and The Prophet and the Crying Camel . We have also learnt some facts about Islam and about the 5 Pillars of Islam.
