Year 6 Roles and Responsibilities

At the start of year 6 children have the opportunity to take on increased roles throughout school.  For example;

  • team point collector
  • charity ambassadors,
  • sports captains,
  • ipad monitors,
  • dishwasher team,
  • DJ's,
  • buddy leaders,
  • office team,
  • enterprise ambassadors,
  • librarians.

These roles are designed and may change with the demnads of the school, however they are autonomous in their applicaion and pupils take great pride in fulfilling their parts.

Members of year 6 may also be selected to be part of the 'Heads Team'.  These roles enable children to take on positions of responsibilty within the school. As ambassadors they, on occassions, may be required to speak in assembly about issues which are affecting the whole school, speak to governors and talk and show visitors around school, demonstrating our warm and caring environment from the prospective of our pupils.  Each term we hold a celebration assembly in church, the heads time create and deliver this special assembly to our whole school community as well as handing out certificates in our weekly assesmbly on a Friday afternoon,

Year 6 also have the opportunity for a 'Take over' day, where they literally take over the school.  taing over roles of teachers, assistant teachers and even the headteacher,  entending their understanding of different roles within school. This opportunityb is invaluable for teaching them about the planning, preparation and dlivery ok skills that you require in the workplace and gives them a real taste of what the future may hold.  children describe the experience as 'amazing' and 'exhausting' whilst celebrating how many interpersonal skills such as listenig, co-operation, team work, responsibility, accoutabilty and communication that they have needed to use.
